About

http://www.geneharmonwrites.com

I am a historical interpreter and writer living in northwest GA. After spending about 20 years in mainframe computer operations and fighting increasing drive times in Atlanta traffic, I decided it was time to get serious about pursuing my passion for writing.

As a historical interpreter, I hold a certification as a Certified Interpreter Guide with the National Association for Interpretation and am currently employed in this profession portraying a 1930s businessman at a site in Atlanta. I have done presentations as part of annual events at Sweetwater Creek State Park, Andersonville National Historic Site, and Chattanooga/Chickamauga National Military Park. During the 2013 summer, I portrayed a 1941 park ranger in Denali National Park & Preserve in Alaska.

My work has been published in local and national newspapers and I am the author and developer for three websites. One of these webpages has also received over 30,000 hits since its inception in 2006. These are all listed on the page for Publishing Credits on my website.

"Under the Smoke", my first book, has been published and is available for sale online in print and electronic formats. Follow the link from the Books tab of my website for more information.

You will also see tabs under Books for my two books in progress. My Savage Summer is my second non-fiction book and Shadow Catchers is a fiction work.

I am happily married with children and several grandchildren. We are active members of a local Lutheran congregation which is more like an extended family.

In my spare time, my passion for history has been fed through involvement since 1994 Civil War living histories and battle re-enactments. I also enjoy historical research, hiking, camping, biking, and relaxing outdoors. I have an Associate of Arts Degree in History from Georgia Highlands College and am pursuing my Bachelors in History from Kennesaw State University.
